FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 8-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Cleary University, 9-2, in nonconference action Friday evening at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
Matej Krasny,
Alex Potter and
Nick Papandrea each scored twice for Tech while
Cam Chabot had three assists and one goal. Potter tallied two assists along with Krasny,
Daniel Spannar and
Mike Tish.
Bryson Linenburg made 11 saves in the win.
The first period was a flurry of action with five combined goals scored in the opening 20 minutes of play.
Axel Low made it a 1-0 game 175 seconds into the contest, but Cleary came back to tie it up at the 11:50 mark. Krasny and Chabot both continued their strong of late by tallying goals at the 9:43 and 6:29 marks, respectively, to make it a 3-1 game. The Cougars came back 35 seconds after the Chabot goal with their second score of the night to cut the deficit back down to one.
Krasny netted his second goal of the night just 17 seconds into the second period while
Nick Papandrea made it a 5-2 game at the 17:27 mark.
Cole Barney converted a power play opportunity to send the Warriors into the second intermission leading 6-2.
Alex Potter scored twice 10 minutes apart in the third while Papandrea capped the scoring with his second goal of the night and 48 seconds left in the game.
Tech (19-7-0) returns to action Saturday as they conclude their weekend set with Cleary. Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
