FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 8-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Cleary University, 11-1, Saturday evening in nonconference action at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
Cam Chabot dished out three assists while
Joel Holmberg had two goals and three assists for a team-best five points.
Francesco Corona,
Mike Tish,
Daniel Spannar and
Ryan Attwood both scored twice while
Ryan O'Toole made eight saves in the win.
Spannar got the scoring started early by scoring 26 seconds into the game while
Cameron Wirick made it a 2-0 game 75 seconds into the first period. Tish converted a short-handed opportunity at the 14:48 mark while Holmberg netted the first of three Tech power play goals at the 10:45 mark.
Matej Krasny capped a five-goal first period by scoring with 1.1 seconds left to play.
Tech's dominance continued into the second as they tacked on five more goals, with Corona scoring both of his goals in a three-minute stretch while Spannar, Holmberg and Tish also getting their second goals of the night during the period.
Tech (20-7-0) returns to action on Thursday, February 6 as they head to Rochester University for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) matchup. Puck drop is set for 7:45 p.m. from Fraser Hockeyland in Fraser, Michigan.
