PONTIAC, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team continued to dominate in the early part of the 2020-21 season Saturday afternoon as they defeated Rochester University 3-1 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action at Ultimate Soccer Arena.
Tech put pressure on Rochester from the opening touch and broke the scoreless tie 32 minutes into the match as
Luke Jones found the back of the net for his first goal of the season while
Noe Garcia quickly put the Warriors up 2-0 five minutes into the second half as
Jonas Kahlmann found the reigning WHAC Offensive Player of the Year for his second goal of the young season.
Rochester was able to cut the lead in half less than a minute later however as they were the beneficiaries of an own goal from the hosts, but the Orange and Black restored the two-goal lead in the 67
th minute as Garcia netted his second goal of the contest on the assist from
Jaxon Simerman.
Tech outshot Rochester 31-3, including 15-1 in shots on goal.
Jaume Salvado improved to 3-0 in goal on the year.
Tech (3-0-0, 3-0-0 WHAC) returns to action October 31 as they host Cornerstone University in their conference finale for the fall season. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
