FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech women's volleyball closed out the fall season with a 3-0 sweep of Lawrence Tech to end 6-0 in WHAC play and 6-1 overall.
Lawrence Tech started the first set strong scoring the first three points for an early 3-0 lead before the Warriors scored two in a row to get within one (3-2). Later
Indiana Tech went on a 4-0 run to take the lead 6-4. The two teams traded points before the Warriors scored three-straight to extend their lead to three (11-8). The Blue Devils could only muster one point before the Orange and Black recorded three more to lead 14-9. The teams went back-and-forth before the Warriors gained momentum and went on a 4-0 run to lead by six (19-13). Lawrence Tech answered with two points themselves and later scored three more to make the score 21-18. The Warriors ended the set with three straight points to win 25-19 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set was tied at 1-1 and 2-2 before Indiana Tech Took control and scored five straight to take a 7-2 lead. Lawrence Tech was only able to muster two points before the Warriors answered with two of their own. The Blue Devils answered with a 5-0 run to tie the set at nine apiece. The set was tied again at 10-10 before the Warriors took a 13-10 lead and later extended their lead to four 16-12. Another 4-0 run for the Orange and Black gave them a 20-14 advantage. The Blue Devils were only able to score two more points in the set while the Warriors finished with a 3-0 run to win 25-16 and take a 2-0 lead on the match.
The third set started with more ties being tied at 1-1 and later 4-4 before the Blue Devils went on a 4-0 run forcing the Warriors to take a timeout. The Blue Devils came out of the timeout to score one more before the Warriors scored two in a row. Later Indiana Tech scored four in a row to take an 11-10 lead before the Blue Devils answered to tie the set at 12. The set was then tied at 13, 15 and 16 before the Warriors took a two-point lead, (18-16) to force the Blue Devils into a timeout. The Warriors scored one more before Lawrence Tech started the back-and-forth points again. Indiana Tech closed out the set with four kills by freshman
Taylor Paul to win the third 25-19 and the match 3-0.
Emma Westra led the Warriors with nine kills and a .147 hitting percentage while
Paul tallied eight kills with a .333 hitting percentage.
Havilyn Cummings was a barricade at the net recording four solo blocks and one block assist while also recording three kills.
Andrea Schriver earned 16 assists and five digs while
Genna Karbowski added 15 assists, six digs and two kills.
Jacey Blust led the Warriors once again in digs with 19 while
Katrina Reynolds recorded 10.
The Warriors will be back in action in the spring semester with more conference games to be announced soon.
