ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team opened up the 2020-21 season Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Siena Heights University in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play at O'Laughlin Stadium.
The Warriors blitzed the Saints early as
Maxwell Amoako scored twice in the first five minutes of the match to give the reigning WHAC regular season and tournament champions a 2-0 lead. Both of Amoako's goals were headed in following corner kick from
Noe Garcia and
Jonas Kahlmann.
Ryan Steele pushed the advantage to 3-0 with a goal in the 31
st minute as Garcia found in with a quick pass and a strike from 20 yards out to complete the scoring.
Tech's defense was in prime form as they limited the Saints to just one shot over 90 minutes and not allowing any on goal. Conversely, the Warrior offense had 29 total shots and 11 on frame while the Orange and Black had 11 corner kicks while blanking the hosts.
Juame Salvado and
Edwin Rosado combined for the shutout with the former earning credit for the win.
Tech (1-0-0, 1-0-0 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday, October 10 as they host Lawrence Technological University in their home opener. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
