UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. & ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's indoor track and field team had strong showings this weekend at the Penn State National Open and Grand Valley State Mike Lints Alumni Open by hitting 17 NAIA automatic or provisional qualifying standards.

Gairy Springer won the 200 meters in 21.70 to hit the NAIA "A" standard again while he finished second in the 600m with a personal-best mark of 1:18.49 and grabbing the automatic qualifying standard.
Kudzanai Karawira ran a season-best 2:28.67 in the 1000m to finish third while
Zach Daniels was seventh in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.10. Both men would hit the NAIA "A" standards for their events while the latter ran a personal-best 8.07 in the semifinals.
Tequan Claitt cleared 2.14m/7-0.25 to take second while
Dylan Bikim was seventh with a season-best mark of 2.60m/6-9 to grab the "A" standard.

Jordan Highsmith won the 200m in a time of 21.83 to set a new personal-best and hit the automatic qualifying standard while
Michael Warner was right behind in a PR of 21.91. Highsmith would also win the 400m with a personal-best time of 47.84 while Chale McLeod was second with a season-best time of 48.64.
Dillan Cerny improved on his 600m time with a provisional mark of 1:21.16 to take fourth.
Daniel Buell set a personal-best in the shot put with a mark of 14.84m/48-8.25 to take fifth while he was also fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 17.12m/56-2.
Tech returns to action on Friday, February 14 with the GVSU Big Meet. Action is set to kick off at 12 p.m. from the Kelly Family Sports Center.
