CHELSEA, Mich. – The No. 8-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Concordia University, 8-0, Friday evening inside Arctic Coliseum.
Cam Chabot had two goals and one assist for a team-best three points while
Fabian Granqvist,
Cole Barney and
Vaughn Treppa all had two assists.
Ryan O'Toole made 14 saves to notch his second career shutout and first of the season.
The Warriors did not get on the scoreboard until the 13:49 mark of the first period as
Nick Papandrea found the back of the net for the game-winning goal.
Ryan Attwood and Chabot opened the floodgates up in the final five minutes of the period by scoring just 13 seconds apart to make it a 3-0 game heading into the first intermission.
Tech tacked on three more goals in the second off the sticks off
Bobby Frieson, Granqvist and Chabot, while
Francesco Corona and
Daniel Spannar both scored in the third period to cap the scoring. O'Toole was pressured with only six shots on target in both the first and second period while the visiting defense limited Concordia to just two shots on goal in the final 20 minutes of play.
Tech (23-7-0, 15-4-0 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday as they host Concordia in their weekend finale. Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
