FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 7-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to NCAA Division III foe Kalamazoo College, 17-6, Saturday afternoon in their season opener at Warrior Athletic Field.
Abbey Wilson had two goals and an assist while four other Tech players tallied goals.
Anna Hartman made nine saves in the loss.
The Hornets scored three times in the first 12 minutes of the game to take control of the game and while Wilson got the Warriors on the scoreboard with 16:16 to play in the opening half, Kalamazoo answered right back with two goals over the next two minutes to make it a 5-1 game. Tech cut the deficit to 7-4 at the half following goals from
Jordan Donally and Wilson in the final two minutes of the period.
Kalamazoo controlled the middle portion of the second half as they went on an 8-0 run that put them ahead 16-5 with eight minutes to go in the game and the Warriors were unable to recover as they dropped their season opener, 17-6.
Tech (0-1) returns to action on March 6 as they travel to No. 3-ranked University of the Cumberlands for a top-10 matchup. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. from the UC Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
