Tech Blanks Rochester for First Shutout of the Season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 8-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team won its fifth straight game Saturday afternoon against Rochester University in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action, prevailing 4-0 inside the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
 
Joel Holmberg netted two goals and reached the 100-career point plateau in just his 66th career game for the Orange and Black. Nick Papandrea and Francesco Corona also scored in the win with Corona and Cole Barney recording two assists apiece. Bryson Linenburg made 13 saves in net to notch the shutout, the fourth of his career and first this season. Tech outshot Rochester 61-13.
 
Corona made quick work of a Warrior power play at the 8:42 mark in the first as they scored the first goal of the game just eight seconds later. Following a scoreless second period, Holmberg lit the lamp 57 seconds into the third to make it a 2-0 contest and reach the triple-digit mark for career points. He netted a power play goal at the 14:05 mark while Papandrea capped the scoring at 13:26.
 
Tech (22-7-0, 14-4-0 WHAC) returns to action on Friday as they head to Concordia University Ann Arbor for a home-and-home conference series. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. from Arctic Coliseum in Chelsea, Michigan.
