BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Indiana Tech men's indoor track and field had a productive day on the second day of the 2020 NAIA Indoor National Championships inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on the campus of South Dakota State University. The Warriors had three individuals earn All-American honors while seven individuals advanced to the finals of their respective events. Tech finished the day with 4.76 points and a 21
st place finish.
Dylan Bikim and Victor Daily tied for eighth place in the high jump with marks of 2.04m/6-8.25 while
Shomari Somerville missed a spot on the podium by one attempt.
Malik Johnson took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 7.16m/23-6 to earn his third All-American honor in the event.
De'Anthony Coleman advanced to the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.08 and a fifth-place finish while
Zach Daniels was one one-hundredths of a second from qualifying for the finals as he finished ninth.
Jordan Highsmith was fifth in the 400m prelims with a time of 47.97 while
Barthelemy Peter was ninth and missed out on qualifying by 11 one-hundredths of a second.
Gairy Spring crossed the finish line in 1:19.87 of the 600m to advance to Saturday's finals and will be the fifth seed.
Qawtavius Johnson ran a 6.73 in the 60m to earn the number two seed for the championship after winning his heat while
Zayquan Lincoln was eighth in 6.85. In the 200m,
Anthony Franklin and Highsmith took second and third with times of 21.34 and 21.49, respectively, to win their heats.
Daniel Buell finished 15
th in the weight throw with a mark of 16.94m/55-7.
The Warriors conclude the 2020 NAIA Indoor National Championships on Saturday, with the first scheduled event of the 60m hurdle finals starting at 1:45 p.m. ET while the shot put gets underway at 2 p.m. ET.
