Warriors Wake Up Night Hawks to Kick off Spring Break Trip

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team kicked off their 2020 spring break trip with a 6-2 win over Thomas University Saturday afternoon at Varnedoe Stadium.
 
Spencer McGhee went 1-3 with a home run while Ashtin Moxey was 2-4 with a home run. Mike Snyder was 1-4 with a double. Charles Dunavan went five innings on the mound to improve to 3-0 on the season, striking out six batters while allowing just two hits. Tyler Stacy pitched two scoreless innings of relief and did not allow a single baserunner.
 
McGhee got the Warriors on the scoreboard first with a two-out homer to right while Jake Ritson started a three-run rally in the second with an RBI single. Yeshua Saint followed that up with an RBI single to score Ritson two batters later while Daniel Johnson II stole home on the double steal with Jashaun Simon to make it a 3-0 game.
 
McGhee drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth while Moxey sent one over the left field fence in the sixth to make it a 6-0 game. The Night Hawks scored a pair of runs in the eighth, but Martin Eckard recovered to shut the door on the hosts for the Warriors eighth straight win.
 
Tech (9-2) wraps up their weekend series with Thomas Sunday with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. from Varnedo Stadium.
