Men's Ice Falls Short Against Adrian

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The men's ice hockey team held Adrian scoreless in the first period and scored the first goal of the game but couldn't hold on defensively and lost 3-1.

In the first period Adrian outshot the Warriors 14 to four while Bryson Linenburg in net for Tech tallied 14 saves in the first period alone to hold the Bulldogs scoreless. In the second period the Warriors came out firing. Tech charged the net where Joel Holmberg took a shot that was saved before Alex Arnold picked up the rebound and shuffled it to Bobby Frieson for the first goal of the game and a 1-0 lead just 1:51 into the second period. It didn't take long for the Bulldogs to answer. At the 4:07 mark DeVon Fields, Cameron Armstrong and Dakota Bohn all teamed up for a Bohn goal to tie the game at 1-1.

With just under five minutes left in the period, Tech got a two-minute penalty that set Adrian up for a powerplay. Just 55 seconds later the Bulldogs found the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead with about four minutes left to play in the period. Over two minutes later Adrian connected again for their third goal and a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.

The Warriors defended a five vs. three powerplay and a five vs. four powerplay back-to-back toward the end of the third period but were unable to generate any offense and fell 3-1 to Adrian.

Tech recorded 17 shots on the night and went 32-for-77 in faceoffs while Adrian tallied 37 shots and went 45-for-77 in faceoffs. Michael Barrett recorded the win for the Bulldogs with 16 saves while Linenburg took the loss with 34 saves.
