SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team suffered its first conference loss of the season Wednesday evening as they fell to Lourdes University, 95-66, inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
Grant Smith and
Josh Kline both recorded a team-best 10 points, with the former adding five rebounds and three assists while the latter grabbed two rebounds.
Lucas Lehrman added nine points and four rebounds while
Max Perez and
Rog Stein had eight points each.
Tech took the early advantage with back-to-back buckets from Kline to go up 4-0, but Lourdes bounced back with a 15-4 run to take a 15-8 lead at the 12:46 mark and force a timeout from
Ted Albert. A jumper from
Jeremy Davison stopped the 7-0 spurt from the Gray Wolves, but the hosts countered with a 12-4 run to go up 27-15 at the 7:55 mark. Lourdes continued to dominate the half as they pushed their lead up to 19 and held Tech to just 10 points over the final 10 minutes of the period to take a 41-27 lead into the locker room.
The Gray Wolves caught fire in the second half as they went 20-29 (69%) from the floor and 9-13 (69.2%) from behind the arc in the final 20 minutes of the game to outscore the Warriors 54-34. Tech would only get as close at 48-34 in the half, but it was as Lourdes after that as they led by as many as 32 points to hand the Orange and Black their most lopsided loss of the season.
Tech (10-7, 1-1 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday, January 30 as they head to Grand Rapids, Michigan to take on Aquinas College. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. from the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
