Warriors Pounce on Tigers Early in Rout

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 11-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team got back in the win column Wednesday evening with a 96-42 win over Grace Christian University inside the Schaefer Center.

Kyra Whitaker led all players with 17 points, going 5-6 from behind the three-point line, while Alexis Hill had 15 points on 7-7 shooting from the floor to go along with six rebounds. Eileen Salisbury knocked down four triples for 12 points with six rebounds while Katie Herron had 10 points and five rebounds in nine minutes off the bench, with all 10 of her points coming in the fourth quarter. Taya Andrews filled up the stat sheet with seven points, six assists and six rebounds in 23 minutes. The 96 points from the Warriors is their most in a game this year.

Whitaker knocked down her first triple of the night on the teams opening possession to give the Warriors the lead as they got off to an 8-0 run. Following a free throw from the Tigers at the 6:10 mark to put them on the scoreboard, Tech finished the quarter on a 17-8 run, which started off on a 15-0 spurt and never looked back as they ended the period leading 25-9.

The Warriors followed up their 9-15 performance from the opening quarter with an 11-19 act that produced 26 points in the second. Tech ended the half on a 10-4 spurt to push their lead up to 32 points at the break as they entered the locker room leading 51-19. Hill scored a quarter-best 11 points on 5-5 shooting in just seven minutes of work.

The Orange and Black kept their foot on the pedal to open the third thanks to a 10-0 run through the first three minutes of the second half, extending their advantage to 61-20. Tech continued to cruise the rest of the way, growing the lead to as many as 56 points while holding the Tigers to their lowest scoring output of the season and the third-lowest score of any Tech opponent this season.

Tech (12-1) will now wait for their next opponent as the conference schedule is still being decided by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC).
