INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indiana Tech men's wrestling starts 2021 out strong with a 22-18 victory over the No. 10 University of Cumberlands earlier today at the Marian Duals.

Nathan Orum began the day at 125 for the Warriors defeating No. 4 Austin Franco in a hard fought 6-3 decision to start Tech off leading 3-0. No. 3
Matthew Gimson of the Orange and Black pinned Ryan Franco in just 45 seconds at 133 to gain six more points for the Warriors. Bryce Nickel came out strong against
Conner Gimson and took the match in a 6-4 decision at 141 to get the Patriots on the board.
Chasen Brown of the Patriots took down
Antwuan Graves in a 9-4 decision at 149 to get Cumberlands within three of the Warrior (9-6) before freshman
Brice Coleman pinned Sam Morris in 1:54 at 157 to put Tech ahead 15-6. No. 19
Hunter Gasper earned three more points for the Orange and Black when he defeated Turner Black in a 9-2 at 165 decision before No. 10
Kolby Ferris took on Charlie Friedenreich at 174.
Ferris won in a 10-2 major decision to put the Warriors ahead 22-6 with just three matches left.
Gabe Jacobs of Cumberlands matched up against No. 15
Josue Hill at 184 where Jacobs bested
Hill in a fall at the 5:31 mark to earn his team six points.
Jacob Brandt then walked on the mat to face Harold Gilmore at 197 where
Brandt fell in an 8-1 decision. At heavyweight, No. 10
Vernon Willis was defeated by No. 4 Aaron Johnson in an 8-4 decision. The Warriors were able to hang on and win the match 22-18.
Tech is back on the mat Tuesday, January 12
th back in Indianapolis to face Marian and Missouri Baptist.
