FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's ice hockey team collected the programs first win Saturday afternoon as they defeated Grand Valley State, 6-2, in the teams first home game at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
Izzy Pettem-Shand lit the lamp first for the Warriors as she gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at 7:51 in the opening period. While the Lakers tied it back up at 1-1 15 seconds later, Brooklyn Moore put the Orange and Black back up on top at 11:16. The two teams headed into the first intermission knotted up at 2-2 as GVSU recorded a power play goal at 13:39 in the first.
Jaclyn van Schubert scored the game-winning goal in the second period as Tech converted a power play at the 10:05 mark before the Warriors scored three times over a 1:45 stretch in the third to run away with the win.
Izzy Varner made 12 saves to pick up the win in goal while
Hailey Anderson and Pettem-Shand both had a team-best three points.
Tech (1-1-1) returns to action Friday as they host Miami University. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
