GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 14-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team defeated Cornerstone University 84-41, Wednesday afternoon, in their opening game of their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) slate inside Mol Arena.
Taya Andrews had a game-high 16 points on 7-9 shooting while adding four rebounds.

Jules Cutrara contributed 10 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals off the bench.
The Warriors led from the opening tip as Andrews scored on a putback on their first possession that started an 11-2 run. Cornerstone battled back to make it a 17-10 game with 1:46 left in the first quarter while holding Tech scoreless for a three-minute stretch, but the visitors scored four points in the final 41 seconds of the period to take a 21-10 lead into the first break.
The Orange and Black stepped up the intensity on both sides of the floor in the second as they outscored the Golden Eagles 25-8, shooting 10-15 from the field and making all three of their attempts from downtown while limiting the hosts to just 3-11 shooting. A 16-0 run that was paired with a 4:08 scoring drought propelled the Warriors to a 37-12 lead halfway through the quarter and they never looked back en route to their seventh straight win over Cornerstone.
Tech (6-0, 1-0 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they hit the road to battle Concordia University. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from Cardinal Fieldhouse.
