Warriors Win Thriller in WHAC Semi-Final

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Regulation wasn't enough to settle the score between the top-seeded Indiana Tech Warriors and the Aquinas Saints at Warrior Athletic Field on Wednesday night.

Maxwell Amoako started the scoring off with a header for the Warriors in the 23rd minute of action off of the assist from Pep Casas.

The Saints didn't do a whole lot of attacking, only recording five shots in the entire contest, but they did what they needed to in order to keep pace with Indiana Tech, with their leading point-getter, Theo Maye, scoring on a free-kick to tie the game in the 53rd minute.

Seventeen cards later, two reds on Indiana Tech, and one red on Aquinas, would leave it at nine on ten in the field, and the teams would head to OT. Tech would out-shoot the Saints in the first OT period, 8-0, and 3-0 in the 2nd OT period.

The game would have to be decided on penalty kicks, where the level of importance of each player's decisions are intensified to an ultimate degree. The Warriors would advance, with Luke Jones nailing the go-ahead PK, and Jaume Salvado shutting the door on Aquinas' chance to stay alive.

The Warriors will take on the University of Northwestern Ohio (9-5-4) in the WHAC Tournament Final this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Warrior Athletic Field.
