Helm Shines Off Bench in Conference Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Indiana Tech men's basketball team earned their first WHAC victory of the season with a 78-73 defeat of the Concordia Cardinals on Saturday evening.

The Warriors stormed out to a 43-27 halftime lead, shooting a very efficient 61.3% from the field, netting five triples, and only sending the Cardinals to the charity stripe a single time. The second half saw the Cardinals have the shooting advantage, burying 53.6% of their shots, hitting five threes, and making 11 foul shots.

It wasn't enough for Concordia, as the Warriors held off their comeback just enough, escaping Ann Arbor with a 78-73 win.

Steve Helm scored a game-high 17 points off the bench for the Warriors, shooting 5-7 from the field, including three triples. The Valparaiso-product contributed on the defensive end, swiping the ball from the Cardinals twice.

Cory McKinney played well in his 34 minutes, scoring 15 points and snagging four rebounds. Josh Kline also scored 15 points and grabbed seven boards to go along with three assists. Rog Stein nearly had his second double-double of the season, notching 12 points and snagging nine boards. Sophomore Max Perez contributed 12 points in the Warrior win.

The Warriors (3-3, 1-1) are back at it on Wednesday night as they take on the Gray Wolves of Lourdes (3-1, 0-1) at the Schaefer Center at 8 PM.
