FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech men's basketball team took on their crosstown rival, No. 2-ranked Saint Francis on Wednesday night at the Hutzell Athletic Center.
Rog Stein had a game-high 27 points on 61% shooting,
Cory McKinney had 15 points and six rebounds,
Grant Smith had 14 points and two blocks, and
Josh Kline finished with 11 points. Saint Francis' David Eljah and Jalan Mull combined for 44 points.
The Warriors would enter the intermission down by 10, with the Cougars hitting double the amount of three-pointers as Tech (6-3), therefore holding a 49-39 lead.
Tech would score 39 points again in the latter half, but held Saint Francis to 35 points, falling by a final score of 84-78.
Two important factors in the Warrior loss were bench points and points off turnovers. As Tech was out-scored in each, accumulating only 6 bench points to USF's 13, and allowed 11 points off turnovers to their own seven.
Tech has opened up the 2021-22 season with an extremely tough schedule, dropping games to two Top-10 foes (IWU/USF) and defeating a very respectable Spring Arbor squad. The Warriors will attempt to get things rolling once again as they take on IU-Northwest this Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Schaefer Center.
