WESTFIELD, Ind. – Men's lacrosse surges past No. 9 Saint Ambrose 9-5 to end the week 2-0.
The Warriors opened up the scoring less than three minutes into the game with
Nate Langille finding the back of the net from
Khanan Bodley. At 7:49, Tech strikes again with
Louis Czech from
Andrew Ryan to lead 2-0 with just over half of the first quarter left. About two minutes later Saint Ambrose answered with a goal from Michael Shakerin. Tech responded quickly at 3:36 with
Simeon Bodley scoring an unassisted goal to give the Warriors back their two-point lead (3-1) until the Fighting Bees scored again less than a minute later.
Nate Durham snuck on past the goalie at 1:54 from
Justin Hindman to give the Warriors a 4-2 lead after the first.
In the second quarter both teams ramped up the defense to hold each other scoreless until the final three minutes of the half. Saint Ambrose scored at 2:45 to get within one before
Ryan scored another goal from
Cooper Musseman with 11 seconds left to earn Tech a 5-3 lead.
Tech was the only team to score in the third quarter starting with
Langille unassisted at 8:28. Less than a minute later the Warriors scored again, this time
Jack Marquardt found the back of the net from
Langille to put the Warriors ahead 7-3. Tech wasn't satisfied and scored again at 1:32 with a goal by
Czech from
Simeon Bodley to give the Warriors their largest lead of the game (8-3).
Langille scored again in the fourth from
Khanan Bodley to end the scoring for the Warriors. Saint Ambrose had a late surge scoring two goals before the game ended but were unable to catch up and the Warriors took down No. 9 Saint Ambrose 9-5.
Joe Steigmeyer was in net today for the Warriors where he recorded his first win of the season with six saves.
The Warriors are back on the field Tuesday, February 23
rd when they host William Penn at 1 p.m. for the first lacrosse game at Indiana Tech of 2021.
