Warriors Handle Statesmen in Home Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 6-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team opened up its home slate Tuesday afternoon with a 11-2 win over William Penn University inside Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Andrew Ryan, Louis Czech and Samuel Bodley all had two goals each while Ryan had two assists for a game-high four points. Nate Langille had a goal and five ground balls, Jordan Reyes added five ground balls while Andrew Neller went 10-15 in the face-off zone. Evan Schuster made five saves in 45 minutes to pick up the win in the cage.
 
The Warriors wasted no time in taking the lead as Simeon Bodley scored the first goal of the game at the 12:59 mark while Czech made it a 2-0 game two minutes later. Tech doubled up its lead to end the first quarter, but the Statesman got on the board with 10:43 left in the second. The Warriors responded quickly though, scoring just 90 seconds later to restore the five-goal lead while adding three more goals before the half to make it an 8-1 contest.
 
The Orange and Black continued their domination into the second half as they outscored William Penn 3-1 to notch their second double-digit win of the season.
 
Tech (3-0) returns to action on Monday, March 1 as they host No. 5-ranked University of the Cumberlands. Opening face-off is set for 1 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
