CROWN POINT, Ind. – Men's soccer opened the spring season on the road early today against Governors State where the Warriors held the Jaguars scoreless for a 5-0 victory.
Tech scored early and often with their first goal coming at the 10:47 mark by
Luke Jones from ten yards out with the assist by
Noe Garcia. The Jaguars then took the defense up a notch not allowing the Warriors another goal until 33:51.
Pep Casas found the back of the net off a pass from
Maxwell Amoako to earn the Warriors a 2-0 lead at the end of the half.
The next two goals came back-to-back with
Garcia scoring the first one at 61:38 from about 15-yards out and snuck in just inside the left post.
Casas and
Amoako earned the assists on the goal.
Jaxon Simerman had the next goal at 61:56 with assists from
Amoako and
Garcia.
Simerman's goal was a high shot that tucked into the upper right corner. The Warriors ended the game with a goal at 67:09 from
Jaime Tenorio that was about ten yards out and hit the lower part of the net.
Casas and
Amoako recorded the assists once again.
Tech out shot the Jaguars 19-11 while both teams tallied two corner kicks.
Edwin Rosado earned the win in goal today with two saves while Luis Ramirez recorded the loss with two saves as well.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, February 27
th when they are set to host Grace at 3 p.m.
