FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Men's hockey completes the sweep of Concordia this weekend with a 3-1 win on Friday and an impressive 8-0 win on their home ice earlier tonight.
On Friday, the Warriors opened up the game with a power play goal at the 10:48 mark.
Zach Bennett snuck one past the goalie from teammates
Cam Chabot and
Matej Krasny. In the second period,
Chabot and
Krasny partnered up again for a
Chabot goal with
Axel Low adding the second assist to give the Warriors at 2-0 lead at the 8:42 minute mark.
Concordia answered the Warriors second goal in about 30 seconds on a breakaway to put the score at 2-1 heading into the final period.
Krasny scored an unassisted goal at the end of the third period to give Tech the 3-1 victory.
Filip Schultz went 11-for-16 in face offs while
Chabot went 9-for-19.
Bryson Linenburg earned the win with 23 saves.
The Warriors continued their success into tonight's game. It was late in the first period when Tech took the lead with a goal from
Joel Holmberg from
Schultz. This was the only goal of the first period and the Warriors led 1-0 after one.
In the second period, Tech took their offense up a notch and scored six goals.
Holmberg tallied the first two followed by two goals from
Bennett. Krasny scored with under three minutes left in the period and
Bennett struck again with under a minute left in the period to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead heading into the final period.
Krasny had the lone goal in the third period to earn Tech the 8-0 shutout win on their home ice.
Pete Cascagnette, Alex Arnold, Adam Vannelli, Fabian Granqvist, Low, Chabot and
Cole Barney all tallied assists in the game with
Bennett and
Krasny also recording assists.
Ryan O'Toole recorded the win tonight with 15 saves.
Chabot went 9-for-18 in face offs while
Schultz went 15-for-22 and
Granqvist was 6-for-11.
Tech is back on the ice Friday, February 26
th when they travel to WHAC rival Aquinas for an 8 p.m. puck drop.
