GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's ice hockey drops to Aquinas on the road 4-3.
The Saints opened the scoring in the first period for the only goal of the period to lead 1-0 after the first 20 minutes. Tech came out strong in the second period with a goal from
Cam Chabot assisted by
Alex Arnold to tie the game 1-1. A little over six minutes later the Saints were able to find the back of the net again to take a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
A powerplay goal to start the third period gave the Saints a 3-1 lead just 30 seconds into the third.
Filip Schultz responded for Tech at the 12:31 mark from
Axel Low to get the Warriors back within one (3-2). Aquinas had a shorthanded goal at the 11:13 mark and under a minute later Tech's
Chabot scored again from
Zach Bennett and
Adam Vannelli for a powerplay goal with 10:00 minutes left. The final ten minutes, neither team was able to score, and the Warriors came up short 4-3.
Bryson Linenburg was in the net for the Warriors and allowed four goals with 19 saves.
The Warriors are back on the ice tonight against Aquinas for a 5:30 p.m. puck drop.
