Women's Basketball Defeats Lourdes on Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Women's basketball defeated Lourdes 63-41 on senior day yesterday.

Tech opened the game with a 7-0 run before Lourdes was able to get on the board with a three. A pair of free throws from Erika Foy gave the Warriors a six-point lead only for Lourdes to make two from the charity stripe right after. Two threes from the Gray Wolves gave them an 11-9 lead with 3:25 left in the first quarter. Eileen Salisbury went to the other end and hit a three to give the Warriors a 12-11 lead. A layup from Emma Tuominen followed by a second three from Salisbury earned Tech a 17-11 lead after the first.

Kelsey Ivers opened the second quarter with a three to put Tech up 20-11. Lourdes then went on a 4-0 run before it was halted by Foy with a layup. The two teams began trading baskets before Tech went on a scoring spree. The Warriors scored 11 straight points to lead 35-17 at halftime.

The Gray Wolves opened the third quarter with a three which sparked a rally for Lourdes of five points to get within 13 (35-22). A 5-0 run for Tech extended their lead to 18 before the two teams started the back-and-forth action. At the 2:40 mark, the Warriors started a 10-point run to end the third quarter leading 58-31.

Lourdes scored the first basket of the fourth quarter and scored the final six points of the game. Tech defeated Lourdes 63-41.

The Warriors were led by Taya Andrews with 18 points while Foy recorded 14 points along with Salisbury. Tuominen led with eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. As a team, Tech shot 39.3 percent from the floor, 52.6 percent from three and 55.6 percent from the free throw line. The Warriors had 28 points in the paint, 20 points off turnovers, six fast break points and 18 points off the bench. 

The Warriors are back in action tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. when they travel to Siena Heights for their last regular season game.
