Warriors Fall to Cardinals in Season Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to No. 8-ranked Concordia University-Ann Arbor, 17-7, in a nonconference matchup Saturday evening inside Warrior Athletic Field.

The Cardinals started off the game quickly with two goals in the first 3:02 of the game and held a 4-0 lead with 20:34 on the clock. Tech responded with goals from Molly Ames and Abby Barkdull to cut the deficit to 4-2 with 17:07 left in the first half, but Concordia proceeded to score seven goals over the final 15 minutes of the period to take control of the game and an 11-3 lead into the break.

The Cardinals continued the scoring onslaught into the second half with five goals through the first 15 minutes of the period to go up 16-3 as they took advantage of a short-handed Tech team, who had just 12 players dressed for their season opener and played the second half a player down. The Warriors garnered some late momentum with three goals over the final nine minutes of the game to cut the deficit to 17-7, but it was not enough to overcome the Cardinal lead.

Halli Reinhard and Faith Donally both had two goals, with the former adding three draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Abbey Wilson had nine ground balls and three caused turnovers while Brooke Buhr had an assist to go along with three ground balls and three draw controls.

Tech (0-1) returns to action on Saturday, March 13 as they host No. 13 Marian University. Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
