Men's Ice Hockey Comes Up Short In Overtime

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech men's ice hockey led 2-1 in the third period but could not fend off the Blue Devils and fell 3-2 in overtime.

The Warriors defended against two Blue Devils power plays in the first period only for Lawrence Tech to score the first goal with just seventeen seconds left in the first period to lead 1-0 after the first 20 minutes of play. Tech came out ready to play in the second period tallying 19 shots. The Warriors tied the game with a goal by Cole Barney assisted by Alex Potter to put the game at 1-1. Tech also had four power plays in the second, but were unable to capitalize.

The third period started with an Indiana Tech goal by Fabian Granqvist from Filip Schultz and Axel Low to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead with about 14 minutes left to play. The Blue Devils responded rather quickly to tie the game at 2-2 with just under 12 minutes left in the game. Lawrence Tech took their defense up a notch to stymie two Tech power plays in the third to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, the Warriors were able to get off two shots but couldn't find the back of the net while Lawrence Tech scored just under three minutes into the five-minute overtime to win 3-2. Ryan O'Toole tallied 15 saves in the loss while Spence Krul of the Blue Devils recorded 37.
