FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Men's ice hockey holds off Calvin and earned the 3-2 overtime win last night to extend their win-streak to four.
The Warriors were on the board first on a powerplay when
Axel Low snuck one into the net from
Adam Vannelli and
Cam Chabot for the only goal of the first period for Tech to lead 1-0. Calvin opened the second period taking advantage of a powerplay to tie the game 1-1 with just under 15 minutes left in the second. The Knights took the lead with under five minutes left in the second period to put pressure on the Warriors.
Alex Arnold rose to the occasion and tied the game 2-2 from
Joel Holmberg and
Cole Barney under three minutes after the Knights took the lead. The second period ended 2-2 and neither team was able to score in the third with the heightened defensive efforts to send the game to overtime.
Halfway through overtime
Barney took advantage of Tech's powerplay and won the game 3-2 for the Warriors.
Bryson Linenburg earned the win in the net with 21 saves in 62:25 minutes.
Chabot led the Warriors in faceoffs with 22 wins and 11 losses while
Filip Schultz won 15 of 23 and
Bear Ross won 11 of 18.
Tech is back on the ice tomorrow when they travel to Davenport for a 12:30 p.m. puck drop.
