Warriors Sweep Sabercats In Quick Fashion

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech men's volleyball team defeated Marantha Baptist University 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-16) in nonconference action Saturday afternoon inside the Schaefer Center.

How It Happened
  • The first set was close through the first 10 points with a 5-5 score, but a 5-0 run for Tech put them ahead 10-5 and they never looked back. The Warrior lead grew to 21-9 and the Sabercats only got to double digit points after that, but Tech took the next four points to take the 1-0 lead.
  • Tech got out quickly with a 5-1 run, but MBU battled back to cut the deficit to 11-8 and fought hard, but the Warriors used a 6-0 run to take the momentum with a 17-8 lead and cruised to the 25-15 win to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
  • The Warriors would once again get out to a quick start in the third with a 7-1 spurt, but the visitors battled back to cut the lead to 9-6. An 8-2 response from Tech put them back in the driver's seat at 17-8 though. Even with MBU fighting off five match points to make it a 24-16 set, Grant Meeks completed the sweep with a kill to complete the victory.
