FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech men's volleyball team defeated Marantha Baptist University 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-16) in nonconference action Saturday afternoon inside the Schaefer Center.
How It Happened
- The first set was close through the first 10 points with a 5-5 score, but a 5-0 run for Tech put them ahead 10-5 and they never looked back. The Warrior lead grew to 21-9 and the Sabercats only got to double digit points after that, but Tech took the next four points to take the 1-0 lead.
- Tech got out quickly with a 5-1 run, but MBU battled back to cut the deficit to 11-8 and fought hard, but the Warriors used a 6-0 run to take the momentum with a 17-8 lead and cruised to the 25-15 win to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Warriors would once again get out to a quick start in the third with a 7-1 spurt, but the visitors battled back to cut the lead to 9-6. An 8-2 response from Tech put them back in the driver's seat at 17-8 though. Even with MBU fighting off five match points to make it a 24-16 set, Grant Meeks completed the sweep with a kill to complete the victory.

- Tech hit .483 and .346 in sets two and three to finish with a .351 hitting percentage for the match.
- Daynte Stewart and Mason Milan both reached double-digit totals in kills with 10 apiece and each recorded a pair of service aces.
- Chandler Davis led the team in assists (22) while Joey Hermes had 17 digs on the day for his 12th match of double-digit digs on the season.
- The Warriors improved to 7-0 on Kline Court and won their fourth straight game.
Tech (12-2) returns to action on Tuesday, March 9 as they head to No. 11-ranked Saint Xavier University for their ninth matchup against a team ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Top 15 Poll. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Shannon Center.
