Women's Volleyball Sweeps Huntington 3-0

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Women's volleyball swept Huntington 3-0 in a non-conference match earlier today.

Tech opened the first set down 2-0 and then 3-1 before going on an 8-0 run to take a 9-3 lead. After allowing the Foresters one point, the Warriors and then rallied for five more points to extend their lead to ten (14-4). The Warriors allowed Huntington four more points in the set while having a 6-0 run before winning the first set 25-8.

The Warriors took a 6-2 lead in the second set and led 12-9 before the Foresters started a comeback scoring four points to take a 13-12 lead. The set was then tied four times before the Warriors were able to gain some momentum and score four-straight to take the lead 22-19. The set was tied 23-23 before Havilyn Cummings and Amaya Anderson scored the final two points to seal the 25-23 second set victory.

The Foresters led 2-1 in the final set and had a 4-0 run to take a 6-3 lead. Huntington extended their lead 13-6 and 14-9 before Tech rallied for a 4-0 run to get within one of the Foresters (14-13). Tech then worked to tie the set 15-15 and took a 16-15 lead. Huntington battled back for three-straight points to take an 18-16 lead before Tech responded with three points to take a 19-18 lead. The set was tied at 21-21, 22-22 and 23-23 before the Warriors scored the final two points to win the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

Both Emma Westra and Taylor Paul tallied seven kills while Paul recorded two assists and five digs with a .429 hitting percentage. Genna Karbowski earned 14 assists with five digs while Jacey Blust led with 14 digs and five assists.

Tech is back in action Wednesday, March 31st when they host Marian at 7 p.m.
