Women's Volleyball Sweeps UNOH 3-0

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Women's volleyball sweeps UNOH 3-0 to earn their tenth win of the year.

The first set was tied at 1-1 and 2-2 before the Warriors gained momentum and later went on a 5-0 run to lead 9-3. Another 4-0 run to lead 13-5 forced the Racers into a timeout. UNOH ended the run for the Warriors and earned another point to get within five (13-7) before Tech earned back the serve. The two teams began trading points until Tech scored three points in a row to lead 18-10. The Warriors led by 10 (21-11) before the Racers rallied for two points to make the score 21-13. Tech earned back the serve, but UNOH quickly took it back to be within eight (22-14). Amaya Anderson earned the final point for the Warriors to win the first set 25-14.

Tech opened the second set with a 3-0 run and later led 5-1 before UNOH stole back the serve. The back-and-forth action quickly began with the Racers tying the set 7-7 and again 8-8. UNOH took a 9-8 lead and extended it to 11-8 forcing the Warriors into a timeout. The Racers scored one more after the timeout before Olivia Niekamp recorded a kill to keep the Warriors within three (12-9). The Racers went on a 3-0 run to extend their lead to 15-10, their largest lead of the match. The two teams began trading points before the Racers took an 18-12 lead forcing the Warriors to take another timeout. After the timeout the Warriors scored two before UNOH earned back the serve with a 19-14 lead. Tech rallied for a 3-0 run to get within two (20-18) and force the Racers into a timeout. After the timeout Havilyn Cummings earned a solo block to energize Tech to tie the set 20-20 and eventually take the 22-20 lead. UNOH fought to get within one (24-23) but the Warriors won the second set 25-23 for a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Warriors started the third set with a 5-2 lead and extended it to 8-3 before UNOH fought to get within two (8-6). Tech then rallied for a 5-0 run to lead 13-6 before the Racers answered with three points to get within four (13-9). Tech got the serve back at 16-10 and scored four unanswered to take a 10-point lead (20-10) before a service error gave the serve back to UNOH. A kill from Taylor Paul gave the Warriors the serve back up 21-11. Tech rallied to score three points and lead 24-12 for match point. UNOH fought back to keep the set going before a kill by Emily Eppert ended the set with a 25-13 win and a 3-0 match victory.

Both Madelyn Omo and Paul recorded seven kills in the match with Omo earned a .455 hitting percentage. Kelsey Schaldenbrand led the Warriors with 14 assists while adding two digs and two kills with Andrea Schriver recording 12 assists and six digs. Jacey Blust earned 16 digs in the match while Cummings had four solo blocks.

Tech is back in action on Wednesday, Match 10th when they host IU-Kokomo at 7 p.m.
