FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team dropped a pair of games Friday afternoon to No. 14-ranked Olivet Nazarene University at Warrior Park, falling 10-1 and 11-1 in five and six innings, respectively.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning but took the momentum in the third with four runs off three hits, the biggest one being a bases clearing double, to make it a 6-0 game. ONU continued its offensive showcase with a two-run homer and a three more hits to put up another four spot in the fourth to extend their lead to 10-0. The Warriors avoided the shutout and broke up the no-hitter with two hits and a run in the fourth, but that was all the offense they would muster as they fell 10-1 in the opener.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first to kick off game two,
Amanda Parker drove in
Rylee Cripe in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single to right center, but Tech stranded two runners in the frame. The game was tight over the next four innings, but the Tigers exploded for nine runs off 11 hits and two Tech errors in the sixth to take an 11-1 game and complete the sweep.
Payton Robinson went 3-3 at the dish in game two.
Tech (3-3) returns to action Saturday as they host No. 5-ranked Marian University in a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m. from Warrior Park.
