HOWELL, Mich. – Men's ice completes the season sweep of Cleary with a 7-1 victory over the Cougars on Saturday night.
The Warriors started the scoring about halfway through the first period when
Zach Bennett found the back of the net from
Cam Chabot and
Ryan O'Toole to give Tech the 1-0 lead. Right before the period ended
Alex Potter snuck one in from
Alex Arnold for the Warriors to lead 2-0 after the first period.
Tech then went on a scoring spree with two goals in the first five minutes of the second period.
Matej Krasny scored from
Potter and
Joel Holmberg notched his fourth goal of the week from
Filip Schultz and
Pete Cascagnette. The Cougars got on the board with a little under five minutes remaining in the period to try and get some momentum only for
Krasny to score when the Warriors were shorthanded at the end of the second period to five Tech a 5-1 lead.
The Warriors ended the game with two more goals in the third period.
Bennett scored for a second time from
Chabot and then
Schultz put one in the back of the net from
Holmberg to seal the 7-1 victory for the Warriors and the season sweep of Cleary.
O'Toole earned the win in the net with 19 saves on the night.
Schultz went 16-for-23 in faceoffs while
Chabot was 14-for-21.
The Warriors are back on the ice Wednesday, March 10
th when they host Calvin College for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
