FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Baseball dropped two against RV IU-Kokomo earlier today.
In the first game, the Cougars jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the first inning and four in the third. IU-Kokomo tallied another in the top of the fourth to lead 7-0 before the Warriors were able to get on the board in the bottom of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth with two on base
Jacob Daftari hit a triple to right centerfield to score
Trevor Patterson and
Reese Olden. Right after,
Yeshua Saint hit a homerun to score
Daftari and get the Warriors within three (7-4) after five innings. IU-Kokomo took control of the game after that and scored three more runs over the next two innings to seal the 10-4 victory.
Saint took the loss on the mound pitching three innings with six strikeouts.
Saint was also 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and one run while
Christian De Los Santos, Mike Snyder and
Patterson were all 1-for-3.
The Warriors opened the second game with a home run from freshman
Tyler Stahl to get the ball rolling. Tech scored another run in the bottom of the first to lead 2-0. IU-Kokomo answered in the top of the third with a two-run homer to tie the game 2-2. In the bottom of the third with
Micah O'Donnell on base,
Christian Mojica singled to score
O'Donnell and give Tech back the lead. In the bottom of the fifth the Warriors scored another run to lead 4-2 with just two innings left to play. The Cougars rallied and scored two in the bottom of the sixth and held the Warriors scoreless in the final two innings to send the game into extra innings. IU-Kokomo scored the only run in the eighth inning to win the game 5-4.
Both
Saint and
Patterson went 1-for-1 at the plate with
O'Donnell going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Mojica was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and
Stahl was 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run.
Martin Eckard took the loss on the mound pitching two innings with two strikeouts.
The Warriors are back in action tomorrow, April 7
th at 3 p.m. for the first game of the doubleheader against Aquinas.
