Warriors Split with Lakers in Road Finale

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Indiana Tech softball team split with Roosevelt University Saturday afternoon at the Ball Park at Rosemont, falling 7-4 in game one before winning game two in eight innings, 2-1.

How It Happened
  • After getting two quick outs in the third, Tech put three runs on the board thanks to back-to-back doubles from Emma Kelley and Jamison Turk, but the Lakers came back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game up.
  • The Warriors went back up in the fourth thanks to an RBI single from Payton Robinson, but the hosts scored four times in the bottom of the frame to take a 7-4 lead.
  • The visitors loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with just one out on the scoreboard, but found themselves on the wrong end of the scoring decision just three pitches later.
  • Kennedi Sullivan put the Warriors up right away with an RBI single just three batters into game two and that score held until the fifth as Roosevelt got a two-out RBI double to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Tech got the go-ahead run in the top of the eight as Payton Robinson scored on a fielder's choice by Ashley Alvey, while Alvey stranded tying run at third base in the bottom of the inning to finish off the complete game victory.

Tech (16-26) finishes up the regular season Sunday as they host Goshen College for a Senior Day doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. from Warrior Park.
