MOBILE, Ala. – Women's tennis has their history-making season come to an end against #16 Cumberlands (Ky.) in their opening match of the NAIA National Championship.
The Warriors only won the #2 doubles match with
Vero Jimenez and
Marianna Murcia defeating their opponents 6-1. Tech fell in doubles dropping the other two matches before heading into singles.
Abigail Simms won at the #2 singles position 6-0 and 6-2 while
Thaina Carvalho recorded the only other win for the Warriors at the #6 in three sets.
Carvalho dropped the first set 6-2 and came back to win the next two 6-2 and 6-0.
The Warriors had an impressive season this year hitting multiple program milestones. Tech won their first regular season WHAC Championship to earn them the #1 seed in the WHAC Tournament that they later went on to win. By winning the conference championship, the Warriors sealed their ticket to their first ever NAIA National Championship.
