Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Jack Koshko

Warriors Score Late Goal to Slay Lions

The No. 14 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team defeated Vanguard University 1-0 Saturday morning at Racer Stadium in the UNOH Showcase.
Vanguard had previously beaten No. 15 ranked UNOH 1-0 Thursday afternoon and will head back to Costa Mesa, California after splitting the two games against the ranked WHAC opponents.

After a scoreless first half, the Warriors found the back of the net in the 64th minute after Luke Jones slotted home the goal after controlling the bouncing ball in the box. This marks Jones' first goal of the season.

The Warriors recorded their second straight shutout of the season, with Jaume Salvado making six saves, including a huge break away save shortly after the Warriors scored to maintain the lead. Tech held onto the 1-0 lead and finished the scrappy, physical game on top.

Indiana Tech (3-0-0) will return to action Sunday, September 5th as they travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky to take on the No. 6 ranked University of Cumberlands in what should be an intense battle between two familiar foes, after playing two times last season. The Warriors won the first meeting 1-0, while Cumberlands won the second meeting in the second round of the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, 2-0.
