Craig Dyer Named NAIA Faculty Athletics Representative of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Indiana Tech Associate Professor of Sport Management and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Craig Dyer has been named the 2020-21 NAIA Faculty Athletics Representative of the Year, the national office announced Wednesday on its annual Awards Day. Named in honor of past vice president of NAIA Legislative Services and NAIA Hall of Famer Wally Schwartz, this prestigious award recognizes a faculty athletics representative who exemplifies the loyalty, enthusiasm and honesty that Mr. Schwartz showed on behalf of the NAIA.

Dyer has been a professor at Indiana Tech since 2004 and served as the university’s FAR since 2007, working with student-athletes, coaches, staff members and administrators on rules education, eligibility appeals and eligibility certification. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1995 with a degree in Athletic Training and worked at Sport Orthopaedics Northeast (SportONE) from 1997-2006 which included a stint with the Warriors in the early 2000’s prior to moving into academia full time. He earned his MBA in Management and Human Resources from Indiana Tech in 2004 and received a graduate certificate in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University in 2011.

Dyer served on the NAIA’s Council of Faculty Athletics Representatives (CFAR) for two terms and been an officer on the NAIA’s Faculty Athletics Representative Association (FARA). Always an active participant in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Executive Council Meetings, he is the senior member of the WHAC Eligibility Committee and filled the role as the conference’s FAR. He is the faculty advisor to the Fellowship of Christian Athletics (FCA) and Sport Management Society at Indiana Tech, an active member of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and serves on the board of directors for the World Baseball Academy in Fort Wayne.

Dyer will be formally recognized by the at the 2022 NAIA National Convention, which takes place April 8-12 in Kansas City.
