GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team ended its weekend with a 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21) win over Aquinas College Saturday afternoon inside the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
 
Taylor Paul had a match-high 15 kills to go along with two blocks and a .344 hitting percentage. Emma Westra added 10 kills, four digs and two blocks while Andrea Schriver had 43 assists. Jacey Blust recorded 12 digs.
 
The Warriors got off to a 10-7 lead thanks in part to a 4-0 run, but the Saints came storming back with a 4-0 spurt of their own to go up 11-10. The set stayed even up to 16-all before Tech rattled off a 6-0 run behind the serving of Mallory Green to take a 22-16 lead and go up 1-0 in the match.
 
The two sides battled in the second with neither team holding more than a two-point lead until late in the set. After falling behind 17-15, Aquinas took the next four points only to see Tech respond with a 3-0 run to take a 20-19 lead and force a timeout from the hosts. The Saints responded with a 6-1 spurt to even the match up a 1-1.
 
The Warriors held the advantage early in the third with a 13-9 as they overcame a 2-0 deficit to start the set and never trailed again after the fifth serve to go up 2-1. Aquinas would again jump out ahead in the fourth set at 3-0, but Tech used a 10-4 spurt to get ahead and never look back. The Warriors got up 14-9 and grew the lead to 22-19 while holding off several charges from the Saints to complete the 3-1 win.
 
Tech (7-8, 3-1 WHAC) returns to action Friday, September 24 as they host Rochester University in a conference matchup. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Schafer Center.
