Warriors Fall to Midland in First-Ever Game

FREMONT, Neb. – The Indiana Tech women's ice hockey team fell to Midland University, 3-1, Friday evening in the first game for the program inside Sidner Ice Arena.

Midland got out to a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes, but Tech held the 2021 national semifinalists off the scoreboard in the second to stay in the game. The home Warriors made it a 3-0 game at 7:43 in the third, but Tech answered back four minutes later with a power play goal from Hailey Anderson to cut the deficit back to two.

The visiting Warriors outshot Midland 13-5 in the third, but couldn't overcome the lead as they fell in their first-ever game.

Jaclyn Van Schubert and Megan Yakiwchuk were credited with assists while Izzy Varner made 18 saves in the loss.

Tech (0-1) returns to action Saturday with a rematch against Midland. Puck drop is set for 5 p.m. ET from Sidner Ice Arena.
