FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team ended a 2-0 weekend Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-9) win over Lawrence Technological University inside the Schaefer Center.
Emma Westra had a match-high eight kills to go along with a .316 hitting percentage and two blocks while
Havilyn Cummings had seven kills, one block and a .600 hitting percentage.
Andrea Schriver had 19 assists while
Jacey Blust recorded 14 digs.
The two Tech's battled over the first 11 serves with the Blue Devils holding a slim 6-5 lead before a 5-0 run from the Warriors put them up 10-6. The Warriors followed that up with another 5-0 spurt to go ahead 15-7 and never looked back as they cruised to the easy 25-15 win to open the match.
The second set saw the Orange and Black race out to a 10-4 lead that was followed by a 10-2 spurt to push their advantage to 20-6. The Blue Devils battled back to make the final score appear closer than it was, but the hosts went up 2-0 in the match with a 25-14 win.
The Warriors came out firing to start the third with an 11-3 run to keep the momentum and continued the trend with a 12-3 spurt to finish the sweep with the 25-9 win.
Tech (9-8, 5-1 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they host Concordia University. First serve is set for 3 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
