CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2021 season Saturday afternoon to Judson University, 3-1, at the McHenry Athletic Complex.
The Eagles struck quickly with their first goal of the match just 11 minutes into the action before adding a second goal in the 33
rd minute.
Lily Rothert cut the deficit to 2-1 with her second goal of the year just a little over three minutes into the second half, but it proved to be just one of three shots the Warriors could muster in the final 45 minutes of the game.
Judson pushed the lead back up to two goals in the 63
rd minute to put the game out of reach while keeping the pressure on the Warriors with 11 shots in the second half, including seven on goal. The hosts would finish the match with a 15-6 advantage in shots on goal and a 24-9 advantage in total shots.
Karminna Gaytan made 12 saves in her collegiate debut while
Hadley Hopkins had three shots on goal.
Tech (2-1-0) returns to action on Wednesday, September 8 as they host No. 14-ranked Grace College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
