Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 8-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team kicked off 2022 in a big way, sweeping the Western Michigan Stallions to win the I-69 Cup by scores of 6-0 and 5-1.
The first contest was held at Wings West in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The contest saw several Warriors score their first goal of the season, those players being
Bobby Frieson,
Alex Arnold (twice), and transfer newcomer
TJ Dougan.
Cam Chabot recorded his 11th goal of the season and
Matej Krasny his eighth.
Ty Barnhill would made 18 saves on the night, securing the shutout.
The Warriors were back on home ice on Saturday night,
Alex Potter would net two goals on the night, the first being a long wrister (assisted by
Cole Barney), and the second being a wicked slapshot (assisted by Barney, Chabot). Dougan would net the second goal of his Indiana Tech career.
Zach Bennett and
Alex Arnold would also score to boost the Warriors to victory with a final score of 5-1 and securing the I-69 Cup for the year.
Indiana Tech (18-2-0, 13-1-0 WHAC) will be back in action this weekend as they have a series with no. 17-ranked UM-Dearborn (12-7-1, 10-4 WHAC), the home contest will be on Saturday evening at the SportOne/Parkview Icehouse, puck-drop will be at 5:30 PM ET.
