Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Warriors Struggle Against Dearborn

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 12-ranked Indiana Tech men's hockey team dropped two contests this weekend to No. 17-ranked UM-Dearborn by scores of 2-2 (Shootout 2-1) and 5-3.

The first contest was held on Friday night at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena. Joel Holmberg scored his team-leading 19th goal of the season, and Brandon Plummer sent one to the back of the net for his 6th on the season. The Wolverines would score twice in the second period, meaning the game would head to Overtime where both teams would attempt four shots apiece, but wouldn't be able to connect on any. The game would head to a shootout. Dearborn was able to connect on both of their attempts while the Warriors would miss twice.

The Orange and Black would be back on home ice on Saturday night and looking to avenge their loss the night prior. Things weren't looking good when the Wolverines started off red-hot, scoring two goals in the first period and connecting on another at the very start of the second period. It was the senior, Matej Krasny, who would put the Warriors on the board, scoring a short-handed goal, followed by Cam Chabot, putting the Warriors back within striking distance. The Wolverines would respond twice at the end of the period, scoring two goals within one minute of each other. Krasny would score his second goal of the night in the third period, and that would be the only scoring for the rest of the game. The Warriors dropping one on home ice, 5-3.

Indiana Tech (18-3-1, 13-2-1 WHAC) will look to bounce back this weekend as they have a series with the Concordia Cardinals (7-12, 3-8 WHAC). The home contest will be on Saturday with puck-drop being at 5:30 PM at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
