Unbeaten Flames Prove Too Much for Warriors

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech women's hockey team showed a good fight against the unbeaten, No. 1-ranked Liberty Flames, but it just wasn't enough, as they were defeated by scores of 3-0 and 4-2.

The first contest was on Friday night, and the Warriors saw their best crowd of the season, with many students, faculty, and Tech family showing out for their team. The Warriors youth couldn't quite keep up with the pace and and crispness of the Flames, who have a majority of upper-classmen and experienced players on their roster, as they were out-shot 31-13, and won just 18 of 50 face-offs, leading to a final score of 3-0, with Izzy Varner making 28 saves on the night.

On Saturday night, the Orange and Black gave a much better fight, Liberty would strike in both the 1st and 2nd periods, but Dakota Bowler would have a response for each one. The young Warriors were tied 2-2 with the best team in the country at the halfway point in the third period. The Flames would strike twice again late, but this time there was no response, with the final score being 4-2. Mackenzie Addley made 43 saves on the night.

Indiana Tech (16-6-1, 12-0 CCWHA) will look ahead to this weekend as they have a series with the Concordia Cardinals (2-18-1, 1-8 CCWHA) with the home contest being on Saturday night at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse, puck-drop is scheduled at 4:00 PM.
