FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The women's hockey team hosted a weekend series with the Warriors of Midland University on their home ice of SportONE/Parkview Icehouse on October 14
th and 15
th. Tech split the series with Midland, an overtime 2-3 decision in the first contest gave Tech their first loss of the season on Friday night. Tech bounced back in the second contest, winning 2-0 to move to 7-1 on the season.
The first game was a close contest ending 2-2, forcing an overtime period. Midland found the net in overtime to get the 3-2 win over Tech. Tech scored first recording goals in the first and second periods.
Avery Johnson scored for Tech first with an unassisted goal.
Dakota Bowler found the net on an assist from
Lauren Younker.
Tech won the second of the two meetings with a 2-0 final score.
Megan Yakiwchuk opened the contest's scoring in the second period with assists from
Molly McElhaney and
Izzy Pettem-Shand. A close game was put to bed when
Dakota Bowler found the back of an empty net with 23 seconds left in the final period giving Tech a 2-0 lead and the victory.
The Warriors travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to take on the University of Michigan on October 21
st in Yost Ice Arena. Tech won the only matchup between the two schools last February with a final score of 3-0.
