HOWELL, Mich. -- Two goals from rookie
Jaume Castells Mas helped Indiana Tech to a 3-1 victory over Cleary University Wednesday night and break a tie at the top of the WHAC standings. Through eight match days, the Warriors own 22 points -- two better than second-place Madonna University, which visits Fort Wayne next week.
While Castells Mas stole the show in the second half, it was
Lorenzo Battagliarin that put Tech in front with a goal in the 35th minute, his first as a Warrior.
Lucca Motta set up the play.
Cleary's Lesman Morazan leveled the contest just after halftime with an unassisted goal at 49:11.Â
From there, it was all Castells Mas as he broke the deadlock in the 59th with an assist from
Felix Jung and sealed the result from
Aaron Asamoah on 76:42.
The Warriors (9-1-4, 7-0-1 WHAC) return to campus to host Michigan-Dearborn in a 4 PM showdown on Saturday. Tech and the Wolverines have tangled in some memorable affairs of late, none more dramatic than a 2-1 overtime win for the Orange & Black in Dearborn, Mich., a year ago. The Warriors trailed for much of the match before
Maxwell Amoako sent the game to extra sessions where Motta stole the points from the penalty spot.
