Goals from Wallace and Dunn Put Tech Back in the Win Column

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Kate Wallace and Danielle Dunn scored a goal apiece as Indiana Tech knocked off Cleary 2-1 in WHAC action Wednesday night. The result improved the Warriors to 4-7-3 on the season and 2-4-2 in conference play and pushed Tech in to the postseason tournament places with three matches to play.

Wallace's opening goal came at the 25:33 mark as she deposited an Alina Garcia assist past CU's Tara McGrath. Garcia slipped a ball behind the Cougar backline for Wallace to attack on the right side of the penalty area and the forward calmly finished the combination for a 1-0 Tech lead and her second of the year.

The Warriors doubled the lead just two minutes after halftime with Dunn finishing off a driven cross from Jordan Brown-Mundey, with a strike high and to McGrath's right from inside the six-yard box. The goal was Dunn's third of 2022, and second game-winner, both tops on the team.

Cleary got back in the match on a Haley Finazzo goal at 65:48. She took a pass from Elena Strauss, cut past a Tech defender and shaped the ball around Micaela Bitle to the top right side of the net from 15 yards. The Cougars had one clear opportunity to tie the match five minutes later, but a finger-tip save from Bitle pushed Strauss' effort off the crossbar.

The Orange & Black out-shot Cleary 14-5 on the night and held a 5-1 corner kick advantage. Bitle made two total saves in 90 minutes for her third win of the season.

The Warriors host Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday in the final home match of the regular season. The Senior Day tilt kicks off at 1 PM from Warrior Athletic Field.
