SPRING ARBOR, Mich – The No. 25 ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season at the WHAC/CL challenge hosted by Spring Arbor University. Tech won their season opener against the host Cougars Friday night 75-64 and picked up a second win over the No. 5 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats with a 61-59 final score.
Rog Stein led the way for Tech in game one with a game-high 22 points on 8-19 shooting, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.
Grant Smith and
Josh Kline added 12 points, with Smith dishing out 5 assists and Kline bringing down 6 rebounds. Newcomer Brady Titus scored 13 points in his 15 minutes, going 3-3 from behind the three-point line. Tech shot 44.6% from the field as a team, shooting 31.3% and 66.7% from the three and the free-throw line, respectively.
Tech had four players in double figures in game two, led by
Blake Davison, with a game-high 17 points shooting 7-11 from the field while also grabbing a team-high 7 rebounds.
Josh Kline and
Lucas Lehrman both scored 11 points for the Warriors. Lehrman went perfect from the floor, shooting 4-4 and grabbing 6 boards.
Rog Stein was also in double figures for Tech, recording 10 points on 50% shooting grabbing 6 rebounds, and distributing 3 assists, a team-high tied with Grand Smith and
Cory McKinney. The Warriors shot 44.2% on the floor.
Tech is back on the court Saturday, November 5, when they travel to Gary, Indiana, to take on the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks. The Warriors have faced off against the RedHawks twice, winning both meetings with a 100-65 victory in the last game on November 6, 2021.
